As a highly sought-after hairstylist, Lauren spent more than 16 years listening to her clients make apologies for their hair – lamenting that it was too thin, or too coarse, or too unmanageable. After struggling with the density of her own hair, Lauren was all too familiar with the lack of options on the market for a haircare range that felt special and supported healthy hair, whilst also delivering incredible results.

Identifying a gap in the market, Lauren decided to formulate her own line of active hair essentials, Robe Haircare. Her aim is to offer everyone the opportunity to embrace and celebrate their natural hair with beautiful, effective products that feel luxe but work harder for your hair.

After three years in development, Robe Haircare was launched in June 2023 with a considered edit of topical and ingestible hair solutions for all hair types.

Over the better part of two decades, Lauren Mackellar has developed a reputation as one of Australia’s leading hairstylists. As a talented colourist, cutter and stylist, Lauren became a notable industry name through her work on editorial shoots, fashion shows, celebrity red carpet styling and residencies at some of Melbourne’s most popular salons.

Known for her effortless, fashion-forward approach to hair, Lauren became a go-to hair stylist for a number of the country’s biggest celebrities, framing such famous faces as Zoë Foster Blake, Olympia Valance, Nat Kelley and Mavournee Hazel. She has also worked extensively overseas, styling hair for the likes of Kylie Cosmetics, Glossier and Rare Beauty. Lauren also assisted on shoots for numerous international names, including Dua Lipa and Alicia Keys, and her work has appeared in the pages of ELLE, Harper’s BAZAAR, MOD, Solstice Magazine and ANON.

In 2020, Lauren decided to realise her dream of creating the haircare products she had always wished for, a range of active haircare essentials that actually worked to achieve longer, stronger, healthier hair for all hair types. However, halfway through the process Lauren received a devastating cancer diagnosis, which required treatment that would cause her to lose her hair.

This difficult time brought Lauren on a whole new journey with both her hair and her identity as a hair stylist, as she adapted to the rapid changes in her locks. Although doctors cautioned her that there was a high chance that her hair would never grow back, Lauren relied on her newly-formulated Robe products to keep her hair in top condition.

More than a year on, Lauren’s hair is now growing back healthier and stronger than ever with the help of her Robe Haircare range. Robe Haircare is the result of Lauren’s desire to educate and inspire women to love the hair they have, supported by her years of expertise as a hair stylist.
